Facilitating world-class research
The Leverhulme Trust are offering 10 awards of £1.35 million each to fund 15 Leverhulme doctoral scholarships at an institution. The scheme offers 5 scholarships in each year of the first three years of the grant. Each scholarship is for a fixed sum of £90,000 per student for up to 48 months of full-time doctoral study covering maintenance (at research council levels) and tuition fees. Any remaining funds are to be used for the Leverhulme Scholar’s research and training expenses.
The chosen area of research should be sufficiently broad to sustain 15 doctoral students over the period of the grant, but it should also have a clear and coherent overarching thematic identity. Guidance on eligible research areas can be found on the Leverhulme Trust website.
Emma Nagel-Smith in Research Services is coordinating the internal selection process. The two-step process involves divisions coordinating their own internal selection process before a cross-divisional panel will determine the final proposal to put forward for submission. The cross-divisional panel is expected to meet at the start of May. The Leverhulme Trust deadline is 5 June.
More details about the scheme can be found on the Leverhulme doctoral scholarships webpage. If you have any questions about the internal selection process, please contact your divisional research office in the first instance.
