The British Academy has launched the 2024 call for their Global Professorship scheme. As before, the University is limited to four applications, and therefore an internal selection stage is required. The EoI form (linked to below) provides details of how candidates can submit an Expression of Interest. Faculties or Departments are asked to provide a letter demonstrating high levels of support for the application, and explaining how the candidate’s proposed research is a strong strategic fit, and brings clear and significant benefits to the Faculty / Dept.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 12 noon on Monday 9 September 2024, and the documentation needs to be sent to: kanza.basit@socsci.ox.ac.uk AND research.support@humanities.ox.ac.uk
The BA scheme deadline for applications selected for support is 23 October 2024 (and therefore applications will need to be submitted to Research Services by16 October).
The British Academy’s selection criteria for the scheme include:
- The excellent research track record and/or promise of the applicant;
- The quality, ambition and originality of the proposed research vision and programme, with the aim to support state-of-the-art applications that break new ground;
- The distinct research contribution and added value that the applicant will be able to make to the UK host institution, and the suitability of the UK host institution for the applicant’s research project that enables the award-holders and their UK host institutions to achieve a step change in their respective research programmes.
