Facilitating world-class research
Symplectic Elements accounts are automatically created for staff employed by the University on a research contract.
Other researchers requiring an account - for example college-only staff or DPhil students - can apply using the Symplectic new user request form and email it to the Symplectic helpdesk. All requests received by Thursdays will be processed the following Tuesday.
Administrative and managerial staff requiring an account can apply using the Symplectic new user request form and email it to the Symplectic helpdesk. All requests received by Thursdays will be processed the following Tuesday.
Users requiring special roles – known as operational users – should indicate this at the time an account is requested, or by email to the Symplectic helpdesk, copying in the relevant head of administration by way of authorisation.
What access do I need?
If you are required to act as a delegate for researchers on an individual named basis (e.g. as an EA, to claim and deposit publications) you do not need any special access - this delegation can be granted by a researcher on an individual basis. Please see ‘Adding a Delegate….’ in Guides for Researchers.
Symplectic Elements at Oxford data can be accessed by an API, for example to automatically populate departmental staff profiles with publication details. If you wish to discuss using the API then please contact the Symplectic helpdesk.
To request an account for access to the API please complete a Symplectic new API user request form and return to the Symplectic helpdesk:
