Requirements for departmental nominations to the Philip Leverhume Prize (Economics; Geography; Archaeology) 2022
This year, the Philip Leverhulme Prize covers the following subject areas: Archaeology, Chemistry, Economics, Engineering, Geography, and Languages and Literatures. As the University can submit to Leverhulme only up to three candidates per category, the Social Sciences Division will run an internal selection process for each of the categories falling within its remit: Geography, Economics and Archaeology (the internal selection process for Archaeology will be run by SSD in tandem with the Humanities division).
Each department can submit up to 3 candidates for each of the three categories (Economics, Geography, Archaeology) to the internal selection process. For each candidate, please submit the documents listed further below as follows:
- For Economics and Geography, send your nominations to the SSD Senior Research Facilitator (armando.romanzozaya@socsci.ox.ac.uk), no later than 5.30pm Monday 07 March 2022.
- For Archaeology, if you are based in a Social Sciences department, send your nominations to the SSD Research Facilitator (sarah.mallet@socsci.ox.ac.uk). If you are based in a Humanities faculty, send your nominations to the HUMS Research Facilitator (ingrid.locatelli@humanities.ox.ac.uk). Please send your nominations no later than 5.30pm Monday 07 March 2022.
These are the documents required for each candidate:
- 2-page career history (details of awards, grants and prizes, academic or professional activities, membership of professional bodies, teaching, supervision, keynote conference presentations, etc.).
- 2-page publications list, identifying the four most significant.
- 250-word abstract for each of the four most significant publications. These abstracts should mention how the publication contributes to the candidate’s discipline.
- 400 words on significant research achievements to date.
- 400 words on future research plans.
- 400 words on how the Prize funds would be used and what the funds would enable the candidate to achieve that current funding does not allow.
Please note: it is expected that the candidates selected by the University to apply to the PLP will have to submit all of the above as part of their submission to the Leverhulme Trust. Also, the eligibility criteria for the Prize are listed here.
If you have any questions on the scheme and/or the internal selection process run by the Social Sciences Division, please get in touch with armando.romanzozaya@socsci.ox.ac.uk, sara.mallet@socsci.ox.ac.uk or ingrid.locatelli@huaminites.ox.ac.uk as required.
