Dedicated time for professional development

As a University we have committed to ensuring that all researchers are able to benefit from the availability of at least ten days professional development (pro rata) per year, in line with the Concordat. Researchers may choose to use this time to participate in various opportunities for up-skilling and growth within their current role, to draw on the wider University training and development offer, and/or consider external options.

Following agreement at divisional level, information and guidance on implementing the ten-day entitlement is being prepared for departments and fixed-term researchers. Case studies illustrating effective personal, professional or career development activity for researchers working in a range of research settings will be prepared over the coming year.

Further details relating to what researchers, line managers or Principal Investigators and professional support colleagues need to know, and to do differently, will be added to this page in the coming months.

Provisional delivery by Trinity term 2024
