Rosetrees Trust Interdisciplinary Prize 2023 - Internal EOIs

Rosetrees Trust Interdisciplinary Prize

The Rosetrees Trust Interdisciplinary Prize is an open competition that aims to develop collaborative studies between researchers in different fields. This year the prize will fund research into the complex interactions between the human host and infectious agents. The award is aimed at collaborative studies between clinicians and non-clinical scientists who have expertise in molecular biology, computing, engineering and mathematics.

The award is worth up to £300,000 over three years and can be used to support any directly incurred costs of the proposed research. Proposals must address unmet clinical needs and include details on how the research could benefit patients within 5-10 years.

Internal Expressions of Interest are invited, from which the University of Oxford will select one application to go forward to Rosetrees Trust. Each expression of interest must have two tenured lead applicants, and must be submitted by 12 noon on Wednesday 8 March 2023 via the IRAMS online application system. Departmental Approver sign-off must also be provided in IRAMS.

Please note the following:

  • Applications must be truly interdisciplinary and collaborative in nature.

  • Rosetrees funding terms and conditions include a specific intellectual property policy, the terms of which may require further discussion with Rosetrees if a project: (a) would not be fully funded by the Rosetrees award (i.e. where other third party funding may be used) or (b) where existing intellectual property may be brought into the project and further developed.

  • If the proposed project would fall under either (a) or (b) above then please include this information with the Expression of Interest application.

  • Funder guidelines relating to scope and criteria are available here.

Once the successful internal applicant has been notified on or around 21 March, they must submit a full application to Rosetrees Trust in their Flexigrant application portal by the RS deadline 21st April 2023, in time for the external funder deadline of 5pm 28th April 2023.
