Applications are invited to lead clusters in a coordinated network for novel human in vitro models of complex disease, which will be funded by UKRI (MRC, BBSRC, EPSRC), the National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs), and Wellcome.
Oxford is not running an internal selection process for this call; however given that only five awards will be made nationwide, Research Services is aiming to coordinate the response to this call.
If you are interested in leading an application or in joining a proposal being led elsewhere in the University, please contact the Strategic Research Development (SRD) team (srd.team@admin.ox.ac.uk) describing your areas of research interest by Monday 18th November. The SRD Team will connect interested applicants to facilitate collaborations and strengthen interdisciplinary bids where possible.
Clusters will be focussed on:
- the development, validation and adaptation of human in vitro disease models for ready adoption by end users in academia, industry or both
- specific disease areas of high unmet need or addressing common needs with relevance to multiple disease domains
The clusters, which are expected to integrate interdisciplinary teams, will be part of a network for novel human in vitro models of complex disease.
Up to five clusters will be funded. The duration of each award will be four years, and the maximum award will be £3.5million.
UKRI is running a two-stage application process: mandatory expression of interest (deadline 6 December 2024), after which UKRI will invite applications to submit to full stage (deadline 20 March 2025). Details of the application process can be found on the call webpage.
