Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology Histology Facility

Managed by: Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology (KIR)
Description: The Histology team can help you with all aspects of histology and immunohistochemistry; from the complete process of turning tissue into slides or anything in between. With a suite of the same equipment found in hospital histology labs we are able to carry out large scale sectioning and staining projects with a high standard of quality and consistency. The lab predominantly performs paraffin embedding and sectioning but are able to produce cryosections too. We can also help optimise immunohistochemistry protocols for new antibodies and train you to use a microtome or cryostat (subject to the relevant safety induction by Jennifer Cole). We have specialised experience in sectioning bone but are happy to take on any tissue. The Lab can be found on the second floor of the Kennedy Institute, in lab 30.38.
